Free Cue Guides & MD Calls for Musicians
The Foundation of a Flawless Live Show.
In the modern era of live music production, there is zero room for stage confusion. As bands incorporate complex backing tracks, multi-layered synthesizers, and synchronized lighting rigs, the margin for error shrinks. The Cue Vault is designed to be the ultimate safety net for your stage performance, providing professional vocal cues built specifically for top-tier DAWs like Ableton Live and Logic Pro.
Whether you refer to them as Cue Guides, Song Calls, Guide Tracks, or MD Voices, these short, punchy audio clips are the invisible glue holding tight live arrangements together. By providing clear, unmistakable verbal direction to your musicians directly through their In-Ear Monitors (IEMs), you completely eliminate missed bridges, messy endings, and those terrifying moments where half the band goes to the chorus while the other half goes to the verse.
Think of these cues as a virtual Music Director that never misses a beat, never loses their voice, and is always perfectly in sync with your click track.
Why The Cue Vault?
Modeled after the exacting professional workflows seen on platforms like MultiTracks and Loop Community, our cues provide surgical precision for your stage. We didn’t just record a voice; we engineered a tool.
Surgical Audio Quality
Unlike highly compressed MP3s that can artifact or get lost in a dense monitor mix, our files are delivered as pristine 24-bit WAVs. This ensures zero phase issues and maximum clarity, which is absolutely critical when pushing audio through high-end interfaces and complex Dante network systems.
Bone-Dry Processing
We provide the vocal stems 100% dry. There is no baked-in reverb, delay, or heavy EQ. This allows you or your Front of House (FOH) monitor engineer to EQ, compress, and process the cue track exactly how your specific band needs to hear it in their unique ear mixes.
Universal DAW Compatibility
No proprietary software required. Simply drag and drop these files into Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Mainstage, Pro Tools, or Studio One. They are detected instantly by modern file browsers and sync perfectly to your session’s tempo grid.
Royalty Free Forever
Once downloaded, they are yours. Use them for your local church worship sets, basement rehearsals, live stream broadcasts on YouTube or Twitch, or massive world tours without ever worrying about copyright strikes or licensing fees.
Inside The Vault
The library covers every conceivable song structure and transition you will need for a dynamic live performance. The vault includes precisely spoken cues for:
Advanced Workflow.
1. DAW Integration
Create a dedicated “Cue Track” or “Guide Track” in your DAW session. Group it alongside your click track. Drag and map these audio clips to the timeline grid, placing them precisely 1-bar or 2-beats before the next song section begins. This gives the band enough mental runway to prepare for the chord change.
2. Hardware Routing
Assign the output of your Cue Track to a specific channel on your audio interface (e.g., Output 4). Route this output directly to your monitor console or headphone amplifier. It is crucial to separate this from your main stereo out (Outputs 1 & 2) so the audience never hears the “Director’s Voice” over the PA system.
3. Mix & Perform
During soundcheck, allow each musician to adjust the volume of the cues in their personal mix. Drummers often need it slightly louder, while vocalists may prefer it tucked neatly underneath the pitch reference. Hit spacebar, and watch your band perform with newfound confidence.
💡 MD Pro Tips
- Pan the click and cues: Pan your click track slightly to the left ear, and your vocal cues slightly to the right ear. This creates stereo separation and reduces ear fatigue during a 90-minute set.
- Use a De-Esser: While our tracks are professionally mixed, live in-ear monitors can accentuate “S” sounds. Throw a quick de-esser plugin on your cue bus if your vocalists complain of harshness.
- Don’t over-cue: Only place cues where the band naturally struggles or where the arrangement changes unexpectedly. Silence is golden.
These cues are meticulously modeled after the professional MD workflows used on massive world tours and mega-church stages. Implementing them takes away the anxiety of memorizing complex arrangements. They literally turn a good, hesitant band into a tight, confident machine.
