Most rough Sundays are decided before the first song starts. The keys were never confirmed, nobody agreed how song two hands over to song three, and the pad was not planned for the prayer. This run sheet puts all of that on one page, so you and your band read the same plan.

What is in the PDF

  • Page 1, the blank sheet. Seven song rows with key, tempo, how each song starts, the cue into the next one, and a notes column for numbers. Plus boxes for key changes, spoken moments and a before-you-play checklist.
  • Page 2, a worked example. A filled-in set so you can see how much detail one row should carry.
  • Page 3, cue calls and a 12-key chart. The words to agree with your band, and the 1, 2m, 4, 5 and 6m chords for all twelve keys so a late key change is a lookup, not a scramble.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the key the leader will actually sing tonight, not the key printed on the chart.
  2. Write the cue into the next song before you rehearse it. Most trainwrecks live in the gaps between songs.
  3. Keep the chord numbers in the notes column. Numbers survive a key change; letters have to be rewritten.
  4. Print it, put it on the stand, and mark it up at rehearsal.

Practise the pieces

Run your transitions in Gig Mode, check key relationships on the Circle of Fifths, and grab the free cues in the Sound Vault for pad and cue practice. The Guides go deeper on cues, transitions and voicings.
