The Studio Tools

Progression Lab

The Progression Lab is a workbench for chord movement: assemble progressions, hear them in time, and study the function of each change.

How to use it

  1. Pick a key, then build your sequence chord by chord.
  2. Play it back and listen for where the motion pulls and where it rests.
  3. Swap individual chords to test substitutions — hear the difference immediately instead of guessing.

Pro tips

  • Rebuild a song you’re learning in here first — once you can see the progression, your hands learn it twice as fast.
  • Take a finished progression to the Reharmonization Engine and let it suggest richer substitutions.
